It still hasn't really sunked in that MJ is gone. Of a heart attack what's more. I would have thought it would be due to a botched plastic procedure or drugs. But then again, they have still not ruled out prescription drugs right?
Was torn between going to sleep and staying up to watch the Tribute to MJ at 1am and it came to mind, why are people only so interested after he has died? What did they do to support him while he was still alive? As I was driving to work today, a radio station was asking people to call in and give their views about MJ and to say their last goodbies. There were so many of them that ended up crying and I was like "Did they even buy his albums and listen to his songs faithfully? Why start sobbing like you just lost your bestest fren?"
Then it brought me back to a show produced in Singapore years ago after Diana died called 'Money No Enough". The scene: Their mother just passed away and all the siblings were at the funeral. All the sisters were laughing and joking and only the brother was feeling sad and crying. Then it was on the radio/tv that Diana died. The sisters suddenly burst out into tears and beating their chests and lamenting their loss.
Do you see what's wrong here? Be sad yes, but not to the extent of sobbing uncontrollably on air. Then again, I seem to be viewing the world differently nowdays...
And maybe its true when people say "To be remembered and immortalised, you'll have to die first". But this does not apply to us lay people of course ;Þ
Good bye Michael Jackson. I will still continue to search for that one song that has been eluding me since I first listened to it in 1996. It was from the double CD History album and tracked near the song featuring Slash on guitars. The MTV was bout a fallen woman, had a helicopter and a drawer full of metallic name card size cards. I am still searching...
